Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026

Printroom is an iPhone and Mac app by John Clow for viewing your Adobe Lightroom photos. This policy explains what data the app uses and where it goes. In short, your photos and Adobe account data travel only between your device and Adobe. Printroom has no server of its own and does not sell, share or use your data for advertising.

Adobe account and Lightroom data

When you connect Lightroom, you sign in on Adobe's own sign-in page. Printroom never sees your Adobe password. Adobe gives the app an access token, which is stored only on your device in a file only your user account can read.

Printroom uses that token to read your Lightroom catalog through Adobe's Lightroom API: photo and video records, collections, metadata such as capture date, camera, rating, flag, and location, and image renditions (previews and, when you choose offline rules, full-size images). This data is downloaded directly from Adobe and stored only on your device. Printroom does not modify, upload to or delete anything in your Lightroom catalog.

Data stored on your device

Your catalog metadata, smart rules, settings and downloaded images are kept in the app's private storage on your device. Choosing Disconnect in the app removes your saved Adobe sign-in. Deleting the app removes all of its data.

Device permissions

  • Location (optional): used only on your device to show nearby photos on the map. It is never sent anywhere.
  • Add to Photos (optional): used only when you choose Save to Photos to add a selected photo to your Photos library.

Crash and diagnostic reports

To fix bugs, Printroom sends crash reports, app-hang reports and performance data to Sentry, a crash reporting service hosted in the United States. Reports include device model, operating system version, app version, the code location of the problem and a short trail of recent app actions, such as screens visited and the web addresses of recent network requests. On iPhone, a report for an error can include a screenshot of the screen at that moment, which may show your photos.

Reports do not include your Adobe password or access token, request contents or headers, or recordings of your sessions. They are used only to diagnose and fix problems in Printroom.

Maps

The map view uses Apple Maps. Apple provides the map tiles under Apple's privacy policy. Printroom does not send your photos to Apple.

Children

Printroom is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
